The Shire would like to thank everyone for their patience during the temporary closure of the Brookton Public Library. Works on getting the service reopened are very near completion and we look forward to returning this service back to the community.
The Shire has been working closely with the State Library of Western Australia (SLWA) to ensure the service is meeting compliance requirements. There have been a number of rectifications that the Shire has had to make in terms of compliance and we apologise for the delays this has caused.
In working with the SLWA, there have also been a number of changes to service delivery. This includes a temporary hold on Inter-library loans, a change from internal service delivery of programs such as Better Beginnings to an outreach program, and access to a number of online borrowing providers made available by library membership.
Please note that Better Beginnings packs have been distributed to the Child Health Care Nurse, Milly Molly Mandy’s and Brookton District High School Kindergarten.
The Library is currently on track to be reopened in the beginning of April. The Shire apologises for the inconvenience caused by the closure and looks forward to the reopening of the service. The Shire will update the community regarding any further developments for the service.
