Council Meetings
Council Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, commencing at 6.00pm.
All members of the public are welcome to attend. Council Meetings are held at the Shire Administration Office in the Council Chambers, and a provision for 'public question time' is allocated at the beginning of each meeting. Any items for consideration by Council must be with the Chief Executive Officer 8 days prior to the Meeting. This allows for the item to be included in the Agenda, which provides Councillors time to consider the matter and conduct any research required. Late items generally will not be considered.

Public Question Time
The designated Question Time will commence shortly after the Chairperson, in most cases the President, declares the Meeting open. In general, Question Time will last for a minimum period of up to 15 minutes. This time may be extended at the discretion of the Chairperson.
The Chairperson will ask anyone in the public gallery who wishes to ask a question to raise their hand.
Please remember, the question must relate to a matter affecting the Shire. Should there be more than one person indicating a desire to ask a question, the Chairperson shall nominate the order in which questions will be received.
Anyone wishing to ask a question must address the Chairperson and give the following details in writing using the Public Question Time Submission Form to be submitted to the Shire Administration as early as possible prior to the commencement of the Council Meeting:
- The name and address of the person asking the question.
- The question to which a desired a response is sought.
Alternatively, the online submission form can be completed at the bottom of this page.
The Chairperson shall decide if the question is in order. The Chairperson may answer or conversely direct your question to an appropriate Councillor or Officer for a response. If the question is taken on notice, then a response will be sent to you in writing.
There will be no argument or discussion on the question or reply; however with the consent of the Chairperson, a subsequent question on the same matter may be put.
Electors Meeting
In accordance with the Local Government Act 1995 s. 5.26 a general meeting of electors is held every year. This meeting must be held within 56 days of Council's acceptance of the Annual Report for the previous financial year. Practically this means that the Shire's auditors finalise their audit of the previous financial year's accounts in October or November, staff prepare the Annual Report, which is presented to Council in December, and the Electors Meeting is then scheduled anytime within the 56 days following acceptance.
Matters to be discussed at a general electors meeting are, firstly, the contents of the Annual Report for the previous financial year and then any other general business. Members of the public are welcome to ask questions.
Public Meetings
From time to time Council will call a public meeting on an item of community interest. Wide advertising is given to such meeting.
